the more I look at art and it’s purpose, and as I mature myself I’ve started viewing art differently. I still believe that realism is still very important element to certain pieces and I still stand by the idea that you should learn the skill initially - but often the pursuit of art in an academic mindset is not art at all but just anal, soulless  snobbery. another reason is that this assignment focused on experimentation and representing memories and feelings associated with this summer period. Something that I think that if you were to pursue it in an academic way would entail using allegorical scenes - which are shit.
